GA MOUNTAINS WINTER

A trip to Ellijay in the Georgia Mountains will really warm your heart this holiday and winter season.

NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS WINTER ESCAPE

CELEBRATE WINTER  IN THE BEAUTY AND SERENITY OF THE NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS

SNOW!
In winter, the peaceful serenity of Mountaintown Creek and the North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains will let you relax, rest and restore your well being. If you are lucky, you may experience the stillness and pristine sparkling beauty of snow in the North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains.  Although the snow will not last very long, you will be treated to a sparkling winter wonderland even if it is temporary.

WARMTH AT THE HEARTH!
Get away from the dreariness of winter and enjoy the evergreen color of towering evergreen hemlocks, rhododendrons and laurels while enjoying the whitewater river, wildlife and scenery of the North Georgia Mountains. Warm yourself by a cozy fire in the indoor fireplace or the riverfront outdoor chiminea. Enjoy walks along the banks of the whitewater. Perhaps you can experience all this against a backdrop of pristine white snow!  Spend a cozy romantic evening in the North Georgia Mountains cuddling by the crackling fire in the 2 story fireplace, the highlight of the vaulted ceiling Great Room at the cabin, or gathered around with friends and family.  Firewood is provided in the winter for your enjoyment.

HOT TUBBING IN THE SNOW!
Relax in the riverfront hot tub and let the snowflakes fall upon you and your sweetheart.  Snow gently falling all around you is so perfect for a romantic evening in a hot tub.

Winter in the North Georgia Mountains is a season of serenity and calm. It's a quiet, restorative pause between the excitement of the holidays and spring's exuberant burst of new life. Whether you're planning a low-key adventure with someone you love or hunkering down amid the comforts of home, an escape to a Georgia Mountains cabin rental can enhance your enjoyment of this special time of year.  The surrounding beauty with the beauty of snow creates a lovely ambiance.

It's coming on Christmas
Theyre cutting down trees
Theyre putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on...

Joni Mitchell, River

The North Georgia Mountains are a beautiful destination to visit any time of year, but the Georgia Mountains are most definitely a must-see during winter.
Experience the beauty of the season with light dustings of snow and curling up in front of the 2 story fireplace for a romantic evening.

SNOW TUBING AT STONE MOUNTAIN!
New this year at Atlanta’s Stone Mountain Park, the park will be transformed into a winter wonderland with Snow Mountain, Atlanta’s first snow park. Located east of Atlanta about 1 3/4 hours from Ellijay and definitely worth the trip from Ellijay. With 3 football fields of deep snow including a 400’ tubing hill and a 30,000 square foot play area, this new snow attraction is fun for the family.
Based at Stone Mountain Park’s famous Laser Lawn, Snow Mountain keeps your entire family busy for hours. Eleven tubing runs and an oversized snow play area filled with a blizzard of snow activities make Snow Mountain Atlanta’s not-to-be-missed winter attraction. There’s even a play zone reserved for your small children!
Snow Mountain’s state-of-the-art snow-making magic guarantees you more than 200 tons of fresh snow daily. And using the Mountain SnoLift to get you up the tubing hill, you’ll want to go again and again!
Take a break from the activity at many spots throughout the park. Watch the tubing action from the SnoDeck. Or catch your breath under a HotSpot. Check out SnoFire Point for warming your toes, roasting marshmallows and making everyone’s favorite winter treat—S’mores!

Snow Mountain opens New Year’s Eve and continues weekends through March 1.
Listed in Frommer’s 500 Places to Visit with Your Kids Before They Grow Up and cited by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as one of “35 Natural Wonders in Georgia You Must See…,” Stone Mountain Park is located just 16 miles east of downtown Atlanta.
