The Ocoee was once known in days of yore as the Old Copper Road in Tennessee and was eventually was named the first designated National Forest Scenic Byway in the United States. This 26 mile two lane road tour offers whitewater views of the Ocoee River along with a must see stop at the Olympic Center, the site of the The Ocoee Scenic Byway also includes a side trip on the Chilhowee Mountain Drive on Forest Route FR77 just across from Ocoee Lake in the Cherokee National Forest. Don't miss the Chilhowee Mountain Drive for spectacular views with numerous turnouts for spectacular views of Ocoee Lake and the surrounding mountains in Cherokee National Forest.  The 26-mile Ocoee Scenic Byway gives viewers an  opportunity to see long scenic vistas of mountains from scenic pullouts as well as  views of Ocoee River and the TVA power-generating system.
Even if you skip the Ocoee rafting adventure, there are plenty of opportunities to stop along the Ocoee River and watch all the whitewater rafting action.

Aska Road Blue Ridge to Cartecay
 Beginning at the intersection of old US 76 and Aska Road in Blue Ridge, go south 13.8 miles. Turn left at the dead end onto the paved road to Dial, Georgia. This road comes out on GA 60, where you can head to either Dahlonega or Morganton. For a picturesque alternate route, turn right at the dead end onto Newport Road and drive 4.5 miles to SR 1010. Turn right and driver 12.2 miles to Cartecay.
